Overwhelm is a real thing when decluttering your space and life. My own life has been a bit full on lately with lots of busy projects, so I wanted to share the 3 tips that have helped me stay sane AND get stuff done!
Tips to tackle declutter overwhelm:
- Start with a list AND group tasks together. Organising your garage for example likely has a fair few tasks within the bigger project. Make a list of all the things you can think of (holiday decor, camping gear, tools, donations, extra freezer) and tackle one little thing at a time if you need to.
- Contain the mess to a specific area if you can. Nominate a spot we trash, donations and items you’re going to sell will go as you work you way through. Same goes for home renovation project, by keeping all your painting equipment and tools together your space will be less messy and you can actually find things more easily too.
- Set a realistic timeline. Some decluttering projects can definitely be quick, but more often than not we underestimate how long something will take! By starting with a smaller block (set a timer for an hour) and see how far you get in that time, you can more easily assess how long something might actually take.
