Grocery budget challenge

Posted on May 18, 2021May 18, 2021 by Simple Essentials

Last week I set myself a challenge to cut out grocery budget in half and still eat healthy. I noticed that our grocery shops for the week were consistently getting up over $100, so I wanted to see if we could eat just as healthy for a little bit less. It turns out that with some planning and recipe inspiration we could!

What was the grocery budget?

I set mysel a challenge to cut out $100+ budget in half, so I aimed for a shop between $50-$60 for all our meals for the week for 2 people. In the video below I cover our meal plan for the week for lunch, dinner and snacks plus some ground rules of this challenge. In the coming 2 videos I’ll share all the recipes I cooked.

How did we like it?

At the end of the week I did ask my partner what he thought of the challenge, and he really liked it! I drag him along for my crazy ideas sometimes, but we both genuinely liked the food last week and especially the new taco casserole I cooked was a hit. Recipes coming up in the next blog!
