Productivity is key to get things done, but I feel people sometimes stress themselves out in the process. Here are my 5 favourite productivity tips and habits that I live by and recommend you try as well.
Productivity tips:
- Stop multitasking and turn off notifications. It’s so tempting to hop from task to task as your inbox or phone pings, but you’re much more productive if you focus on one thing at a time.
- Plan your day the night before. Before I log off for the day I always list my main 3 things to get done the next day. I use Trello, which is a great and completely free tool to organise my tasks and ‘to do’ lists. It’s also great to invite other family members/team members to do specific tasks and share details.
- Start your day with quiet time. It can be tricky not to reach for your phone first thing, but I’ve started to aim for at least 5 minutes of quiet time every day. It really helps start the day with some balance for better flow throughout the day (especially because the day is already planned from the night before).
- Use a daily block schedule. Rather than planning your day hour by hour, using a block schedule can be super helpful. I found this method very inspiring and it’s helped me block out my day in a way that works much better for me.
- Set up theme days to block tasks together. This is a great way to stay on track and focus on one thing at a time. For example, I tend to grocery shop on a Tuesday, do business finance tasks a few hours ever second Tuesday. It helps me timebox when I do it and stay on top of things. As I have the house to myself on a Wednesday, that’s when I’ll typically film and edit my YouTube videos. Basically, find a day when certain tasks make sense for you and stick to it 90%+ of the time and you’ll likely have better flow in your week. It also means you can get family members to work better together as well.
