Get ready for a big kitchen declutter and organise at my friends’ house! She’s a busy mum of 3 and needed some help to simplify her systems and clean out a few things in the kitchen.
It was such a fun project (where I spent $0 by the way) and I loved how it turned out. Most importantly, it helps her find things easily and stock up on things she needs when they are on sale.
Some of my key kitchen declutter and organisation tips:
- Group like items together in the same area so you can see what you have and avoid buying duplicates.
- Keep a separate bin or shelf of opened items that need to be used up first.
- Declutter before you deep clean. Having fewer items makes it much easier to organise and clean your cabinets and drawers.
- Organise based on what you use most often. For example, vases and some less used appliances can often go on a less accessible shelf.
- Try and clear your counters. Having a ‘home’ for each item and less visual clutter helps keep the kitchen tidy.
- Aim for a quick 5-10 min re-set every night before you go to bed. Start dishwasher, wipe down surfaces and put things back in their place. Tomorrow morning you’ll thank yourself, I promise!
