Join me for some minimalist packing tips as I pack up the house and get ready to put most of our belongings in storage while we wait for our new house to be built. These minimalist tips and hacks can save you time AND money, with the added bonus of a smoother house move.
My top minimalist moving tips:
- Declutter before you pack! There is no need to pay to transport things you no longer use. This includes furniture pieces that you know you’ll not need in your new place.
- Look for free moving boxes / storage tubs on Facebook marketplace or check at shops for free cardboard boxes they are getting rid of anyway.
- Always label your boxes (even if you’re not putting things in long term storage). It helps SO much to know what’s in each box when you’re unpacking or trying to find things.
- Start early. Giving yourself enough time to declutter, pack and get ready is a gift to yourself. We always underestimate how much stuff we have, so allowing time for the packing and clear out will make moving day run so much smoother!
