Most of us spend a lot of time in the laundry, but sometimes it can be hard to think of simple laundry organisation hacks. In our small apartment we have what’s called a European laundry. It’s basically just a big cupboard that fits our washer, dryer and a laundry trough.
Given we live in a small space, I was keen to find ways of adding storage to fit other cleaning and laundry items in this space. Some key things to consider:
- Use the vertical space wherever possible. We were able to fit a shelf at the top (still allowing ventilation above and behind the dryer) which helps us store bulky/ugly items out of sight.
- Use hooks on the walls/doors for things you need to get off the floor, but still want easy access to. A renter friendly option is to buy the removable hooks that you can easily remove when you move out.
- Add baskets on the doors/walls for cloths, bags and other smaller items. Grouping like items together is a key part of simplifying your life and not having to look for something in a range of different places.
