Looking for inspiration to transform a small, minimalist space on a tight budget? Join this short apartment tour, clean and paint session and see how we completely transformed this space for less than $1000 in only a few days!
This tiny apartment is approximately 24 sqm (260 sqf), was built in the 1960’s and is based in Melbourne, Australia. We did not get to pick the wall and ceiling colour as we used free paint that was left over from another renovation project, but it turned out great!
Key things to transform and renovate on a budget:
- Deep cleaning alone can really transform spaces. Start by cleaning the place before you decide on what you are renovating/painting.
- Buy things second hand (FB marketplace, local buy-swap-sell groups and second hand shops are your friend)
- Ask around for paint, tiles, carpet and other materials, you’d be surprised what friends and family might be willing to donate!
- Change out the lights. Hire an electrician if needed (especially in older places) to make sure they are properly installed.
- Roll up your sleeves and do the work yourself. Naturally you should consult an electrician on plumber for some things, but you can do lots of the work yourself and save a bunch of money.
